Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick claims that he 'knows his opinion' on who should be the Red Devils' next permanent boss.

Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has claimed that he 'knows his opinion' on who should take over at Old Trafford permanently.

The German is set to move into a two-year consultancy role from the 2022-23 season onwards after taking temporary control of the reins from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last year.

John Murtough has confirmed that a "thorough" search is underway to find the Red Devils' next permanent manager, and Rangnick has admitted that he is yet to hold discussions with those upstairs over the next appointment.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Rangnick said: "So far, we've not spoken about that. Not with John Murtough or anyone else, we've not spoken about this topic over the last weeks and months since I've been here. I know my opinion but so far we've not spoken about that so it's all I can tell you."

Erik ten Hag and Mauricio Pochettino are thought to be the two leading candidates for the job, but a recent report claimed that Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl was also being considered.

Rangnick has won eight of his 17 games in charge of the Red Devils, who will aim to strengthen their position in the top four of the Premier League table against bitter rivals Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.
