Brendan Rodgers empathises with Manchester United boss David Moyes

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers insists that he can empathise with Manchester United boss David Moyes.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has insisted that he can empathise with Manchester United boss David Moyes.

The Scotsman has had a disappointing start to his United career since taking over from Sir Alex Ferguson, who retired from management last summer.

Rodgers also has experience of taking over from a club icon after replacing Kenny Dalglish at Anfield back in 2012.

"I have empathy for the pressures which come with taking over such a huge club," BBC Sport quotes Rodgers as saying. "It is incomparable the states of the two clubs because they were champions, there are serial winners in there, and when I came to this club, they were eighth."

Liverpool and United will go head to head at Old Trafford on Sunday, with the Merseyside outfit second in the Premier League table, while the Red Devils are 11 points behind in sixth.
