Mikael Silvestre backing Manchester United against Chelsea

Former Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre believes that the Red Devils can go out and beat Chelsea when they meet at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Former Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre has backed the Red Devils to earn a positive result against Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Old Trafford outfit have enjoyed an upturn in fortunes in recent weeks, winning three of their last five games under new manager Louis van Gaal.

Despite Chelsea travelling to Manchester with an unbeaten record in the league this season, Silvestre is confident that United have what it takes to foil the Blues.

"I think that this game is coming at the right time for Manchester United but it's going to be a real test of character. The players are slowly starting to understand each other a little better," the Frenchman told Sky Sports News.

"For sure, Chelsea are the team to beat this season. They look so strong right now but I'm looking forward to seeing something positive from Manchester United this weekend."

Silvestre won 11 major honours with Manchester United before joining Arsenal in 2008.
