Manchester United players reportedly urge the club's hierarchy to maintain faith in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ahead of the club's 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

Manchester United players reportedly urged the club's hierarchy to maintain faith in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ahead of the club's 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

The Norwegian's position at Old Trafford came under severe pressure following a 2-2 draw with Aston Villa, along with Mauricio Pochettino's confirmation that he wants an immediate return to management.

However, Wednesday's 2-1 success, during which Marcus Rashford scored twice in a dominant performance, has somewhat eased the pressure on Solskjaer.

According to the The Times, senior members of the dressing room stressed to the board that Solskjaer still commanded their support ahead of the victory over Jose Mourinho's men.

Reports ahead of the game claimed that defeat to Spurs and to Manchester City on Saturday would prompt the United board to pull the trigger on Solskjaer.

Wednesday's victory took United back to sixth in the Premier League table, albeit still eight points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.
