Four clubs that Robert Lewandowski could join this summer

Sports Mole picks out four clubs that Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski could join this summer.

Robert Lewandowski has made it clear to Bayern Munich that he wants to leave Allianz Arena during this summer's transfer window in search of pastures new.

The 33-year-old scored 50 goals and registered seven assists in 46 appearances in all competitions for Bayern last term, but he only has 12 months left to run on his contract at the club and wants to depart.

The Bundesliga champions continue to insist that the Poland international is not for sale.

However, the experienced striker is seemingly intent on switching clubs this summer, as he looks for a different challenge at this stage of his career.

With that in mind, Sports Mole picks out four possible destinations for the Lewandowski, if he is successful in forcing a move away from Bayern.

Barcelona

Barcelona are said to lead the race for Lewandowski, who is allegedly determined to secure a move to the Catalan giants before the end of the summer transfer window.

Xavi's side have ongoing financial problems, but they could potentially raise in excess of £130m this summer through player sales, with Frenkie de Jong potentially leaving for Manchester United.

A recent report claimed that Barcelona are now preparing to make an official offer for the Poland international, having already come to an agreement over personal terms with his agent.

The Catalan outfit are currently well-stocked in the final third of the field, but Ousmane Dembele is set to leave Camp Nou on a free transfer at the end of June, while Martin Braithwaite, Memphis Depay, Adama Traore and Luuk de Jong could all depart ahead of next term.

Lewandowski remains one of the best centre-forwards in world football and would certainly be a statement signing by a club looking to return to the top of European football once again.

Paris Saint-Germain

Paris Saint-Germain were able to sign Kylian Mbappe to a new contract, but the French giants will always be interested in the top players in world football if they become available.

Lionel Messi and Neymar are set to stay at PSG this summer despite the recent speculation surrounding their futures, but it is not impossible to imagine Lewandowski arriving in Paris before the end of the transfer window.

The forward has scored 344 goals and registered 72 assists in 374 appearances for Bayern in all competitions, and he will believe that he can continue to find the back of the net on a regular basis for the next few years.

It would certainly be a challenge for PSG to fit Neymar, Mbappe, Messi and Lewandowski into the same starting XI, but the striker's arrival would give them one of the best forward-lines of all time.

Chelsea

Chelsea will be in the market for a new striker this summer if Romelu Lukaku departs, with the Belgium international currently in talks over a return to Inter Milan on loan.

The Blues are said to be seriously interested in Lewandowski, who is believed to be keen to play in the Premier League before the end of his career.

Thomas Tuchel has assembled an impressive squad at Stamford Bridge, but Lukaku's departure would leave them short in the final third, especially as Timo Werner has largely been used as a wide player.

Chelsea's biggest problem when it comes to convincing Lewandowski to join is Barcelona, with the player said to be set on making the move to Camp Nou.

Barcelona's financial issues could ultimately prevent them from signing the striker, though, and the chance to play for one of the biggest clubs in England and live in the capital could appeal to him.

Manchester United

Man United have allowed Edinson Cavani to leave Old Trafford on a free transfer this summer, while there is uncertainty surrounding Anthony Martial's future at the club.

Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to stay despite the recent rumours, but there is no question that the Red Devils are short of options in the final third of the field.

If Bayern agree to sell, there have been claims that the transfer fee would be in the region of £40m, which should not be much of an issue for Man United, although they could spend a chunk of their summer transfer budget on Barcelona midfielder De Jong.

Ironically, Man United signing De Jong would place Barcelona in a strong position to bring in Lewandowski, so the Red Devils are certainly the outsiders on this particular list.

However, despite the team's struggles, the 20-time English champions are still capable of signing world-class players, and the chance to play for the club would surely appeal to Lewandowski, who could line up alongside Ronaldo at Old Trafford next term.
