Manchester United reportedly turn down Fulham's transfer bid for Scotland international Scott McTominay, who is now in the final year of his contract.

Manchester United have reportedly turned down a bid from Fulham for midfielder Scott McTominay.

After rising through the youth ranks at Old Trafford, McTominay has gone on to rack up 252 appearances for the 20-time English champions.

Although he was linked with a move away last summer, the Scotland international remained with Erik ten Hag's side to play a prominent role in the 2023-24 campaign.

McTominay featured in 43 matches across all competitions, scoring 10 goals and contributing three assists, including three goal contributions in Man United's successful FA Cup run.

Despite enjoying regular game time last season, McTominay has seen his future become the subject of speculation due to his current contract situation.

Man United reject Fulham bid for McTominay

As it stands, his deal will expire at the end of the 2024-25 campaign, although the club have the option to extend his contract by a further 12 months.

Galatasaray vice-chairman Ibrahim Hatipoglu recently revealed that the Turkish giants are weighing up a potential move for McTominay.

However, the reigning Turkish Super Lig champions are seemingly facing competition from West London side Fulham.

According to the Daily Mail, Fulham have seen a bid rejected by Man United after stepping up their interest in the midfielder.

There is a belief that Fulham's proposal was below the £30m offer that Man United turned down from West Ham United last summer.

Why are Fulham interested in McTominay?

Marco Silva's side will now have to decide whether they want to return to the negotiating table with an improved bid for the Man United man.

The Cottagers are keen to strengthen their midfield following the recent departure of Portugal international Joao Palhinha.

Last week, Palhinha completed a move to German giants Bayern Munich after the two clubs came to an agreement over a €56m (£47.2m) deal.

Palhinha started 31 of Fulham's 38 Premier League matches this season, highlighting the significant void that his exit has left in the squad.

As well as showing a strong interest in McTominay, the Cottagers are also believed to be working on a deal to sign Brazilian midfielder Andre from Fluminense.
