Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur target Bruno Fernandes has admitted that he harbours "dreams" about leaving Sporting Lisbon to join a big club in the future.

The midfielder emerged on the radar of several clubs over the summer following a 2018-19 season during which he scored 20 goals and claimed 13 assists in the league.

Reports suggested that both United and Spurs made an approach to Sporting over the prospect of doing a deal, but no move materialised.

Speaking soon after completing a Euro 2020 qualifier with Portugal, Fernandes told The Mirror: "I'm not worried, since 2016 I'm at Sporting and they say I'm leaving, so far I'm fine.

"I have dreams to come true, but I'm not worried, I have no reason to force out, I'm fine, in a club I like. On the day I have to leave, if I have to, I hope to leave a good memory."

Spurs are keen to complete the signing of Fernandes ahead of Christian Eriksen potentially leaving the club for free once his contract expires in June.

United, meanwhile, need reinforcements in midfield after dispensing with Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini over the past year.
