Chelsea make a breakthrough in their contract talks with central defender Antonio Rudiger, according to a report.

Antonio Rudiger is reportedly now keen to remain with Chelsea, with the Blues making a breakthrough in their contract discussions with the Germany international.

The centre-back's contract at Stamford Bridge is due to expire at the end of June, and Real Madrid, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are among the clubs to be linked with his services on a free transfer.

Rudiger was believed to be looking to leave Chelsea this summer in search of a big-money contract, but according to Bild journalist Christian Falk, the German now wants to stay with the European Cup holders.

Falk claims that the two parties are now holding positive discussions, with Rudiger disappointed with the previous offer that had been placed on the table.

The 28-year-old has been in strong form for Chelsea during the 2021-22 campaign, making 27 appearances in all competitions, contributing two goals and four assists in the process.

In total, Rudiger has featured on 176 occasions for the Blues since making the move from Roma in 2017, and he has been a key player for the club since Thomas Tuchel's arrival as head coach.
