Bayern Munich chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen met with Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy on Thursday to discuss a move for Harry Kane, according to a report.

Bayern Munich chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen reportedly met with Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy on Thursday to discuss a possible summer deal for Harry Kane.

The 29-year-old's contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is due to expire next June, and there remains a host of speculation surrounding his future in North London.

Manchester United had allegedly identified the England captain as their number one transfer target ahead of the summer window, but a move to Old Trafford is seen as highly unlikely at this stage.

Tottenham reportedly remain determined to keep hold of Kane and are still hopeful that he will decide to sign a new long-term contract with the capital giants.

However, Bayern are seemingly pushing for his signature, with the German club's head coach Thomas Tuchel said to have recently met with Kane at his home in London to discuss a move.

According to German journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern chiefs, including Dreesen, were in London on Thursday to meet with Spurs chairman Levy.

Plettenberg claims that there was a 'good atmosphere' during the talks, but there has been no progress in terms of a possible deal for the Englishman.

Tottenham allegedly remain determined to keep hold of Kane, but the club could be forced into a sale if it becomes clear that the Englishman will not sign a new contract.

Bayern decided against signing a replacement for Robert Lewandowski last year, but they have seemingly identified Kane as their leading target this summer, with the Munich giants looking to put together a squad capable of making a serious impression in the Champions League once again.

Kane was again in strong form for Spurs during the 2022-23 campaign, finding the back of the net on 32 occasions in 49 appearances, in addition to contributing five assists.

The Three Lions skipper scored 30 Premier League goals last season, but Tottenham finished down in eighth position in the table, meaning that there will be no European football at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium during the 2023-24 campaign.

Kane is believed to have been impressed by new Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou, with the striker returning to training on Wednesday for the start of pre-season.

There have been suggestions that Tottenham would want an offer of £100m before considering selling Kane, although Bayern's bids thus far are not thought to have exceeded £80m.

Paris Saint-Germain are also thought to be keeping a close eye on Kane's situation, with the French giants thought to be ready to make a move if Kylian Mbappe departs this summer.
