Everton will not be able to restrict defender Leighton Baines from moving to Manchester United this summer if David Moyes approaches the left-back, according to a report.

Everton will not be able to block an approach from Manchester United and David Moyes this summer should they bid for Leighton Baines, according to a report.

When the Scot replaces Sir Alex Ferguson at the end of the season, he will reportedly raid on his old club and the England international is at the top of his shortlist.

According to The Mirror, the Toffees have been dealt a blow as they can't stop any approach made by the Red Devils for the 28-year-old.

"As we saw when Liverpool bought Joe Allen these transfer restrictions are not worth the paper they're written on anyway," a source told the Mirror.

Moyes will also reportedly move for Baines's Everton teammates Marouane Fellaini in the summer.
