Manchester United attacker Alejandro Garnacho is close to signing a new long-term contract with the Red Devils, according to a report.

Manchester United attacker Alejandro Garnacho is reportedly close to penning a new contract with the 20-time English champions until the summer of 2028.

There has been a host of speculation surrounding the 18-year-old in recent months, with Man United working to sign him to a long-term deal while other clubs keep an eye on the situation.

However, Garnacho's priority has allegedly always been to remain at Old Trafford, and according to AS, the teenager's new deal is 'practically complete'.

The report claims that the Argentina Under-20s international will sign fresh terms until the summer of 2028, with Man United head coach Erik ten Hag viewing him as a vital part of his plans moving forward.

Garnacho has been a regular for the Red Devils this season, featuring on 20 occasions in all competitions, scoring twice and providing five assists in the process.

The youngster has scored once and provided two assists in nine Premier League appearances this season, while he netted once in four outings in the group stage of the Europa League.

Garnacho has been involved in each of Man United's last eight league games, scoring against Fulham and providing assists against Bournemouth and Manchester City.

Real Madrid had allegedly been keeping an eye on the developments, but the teenager is now planning to commit his future to the 20-time English champions.

Garnacho made the move to Old Trafford from Atletico Madrid in October 2020, and his existing terms with the club are due to run until the summer of 2024.

"Yeah, he's [improving] a lot," Ten Hag recently told reporters. "He has skill and I don't see that many players, even in the Premier League, who have that skill, like he beats players one-on-one.

"But he learned in the last months how to play in the team and how to live and do the right things in the week, and how to have the right attitude on the training ground.

"You can see how he is acting as a team player," explained the manager. "But his individual skills can make the difference. Also, for him, it's to keep going in the process, it's not done as there is a lot to come and a lot more room for improvement for him, but he can help contribute on the highest level.

"I'm really happy. It is a bonus for us, as a club, that you bring in young players who come into the squad and even come into the team. I think also it is a part of our project that has to contribute to our success."

Garnacho's pay packet could reportedly be worth round £30,000 a week, while the deal is likely to include a number of performance-based bonuses.
