Manchester United are reportedly expecting Anthony Martial to remain at Old Trafford for the 2022-23 campaign.

Manchester United are reportedly preparing for the possibility of Anthony Martial spending another season at Old Trafford.

The forward has been at Old Trafford for the past seven years, contributing a total of 79 goals from 269 appearances in all competitions.

However, the 26-year-old's form tailed off during the most recent campaign, a return of one strike in 11 outings leading to a loan spell at Sevilla.

United had hoped that the France international would impress sufficiently to convince the Spanish outfit to push through a permanent deal.

Instead, the versatile attacker failed to score a single goal in 495 minutes of La Liga football, his only effort coming in the Europa League.

Last month, Sevilla president Jose Castro confirmed that the club would not be pursuing the signing of Martial on a full-time basis, acknowledging that the signing "didn't work".

According to the Manchester Evening News, United are now conscious of the possibility of the player not being away to secure another move away this summer.

A source is said to have told the outlet that "nobody is breaking the door down" for Martial, an indication that he will begin pre-season with the Premier League side.

Martial still has two years remaining on his contract with United, the scenario leaving Erik ten Hag to take a look at a player who may have otherwise been out of his plans.

Ten Hag may take the chance to allow Martial to try to impress during pre-season in a bid to attract concrete interest in his signature, United having to be open to a compromise regarding a fee.

Martial is allegedly one of a number of United players which could be sold by Ten Hag, who wants to stamp his own mark on a squad which largely struggled last season.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is another former first-team regular who could be available, although United will struggle to recoup anywhere near to the £50m that they shelled out in 2019.

United are already looking for possible additions in the final third, the latest player to be linked with a move to the Theatre Of Dreams being Antony.

Ten is familiar with the player from his time at Ajax and United are reportedly attempting to get a £40m deal over the line this week.
