Manchester United are reportedly keeping a close eye on AC Milan's Franck Kessie and Inter Milan's Marcelo Brozovic ahead of the January transfer window.
The Red Devils have struggled in the middle of the park this season, and head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is believed to be frustrated that a new midfielder was not signed over the summer.
According to The Mirror, the 20-time English champions could be busy in the winter window, as a poor run of form has left them nine points off the top of the Premier League table.
The report claims that Kessie - out of contract at Milan next summer - has emerged as a target, although Man United would have competition from a number of clubs for the Ivorian.
Meanwhile, it is alleged that Solskjaer's side are keen to sign Brozovic, who could be available for a cut-price fee in January, with his deal at Inter due to expire next June.
Barcelona, Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain are also among the clubs to be credited with an interest in both midfielders ahead of the opening of the winter window.
