Manchester United are reportedly making a serious move for Lille defender Leny Yoro, but they may have to battle Manchester City to secure the teenager's signature.

Manchester United have reportedly made a serious move for Lille defender Leny Yoro, but they may have to battle rivals Manchester City to secure the signing of the promising teenager in January.

Still only 18 years of age, Yoro made a breakthrough into the Lille side last season and has accumulated a total of 22 senior appearances since then.

The French Under-21 international marked his senior debut for Lille one day after turning 16, overtaking Eden Hazard as the second-youngest player to have ever represented the club.

According to Le 10 Sport, concrete approaches have been made by both Manchester United and Manchester City for the central defender, with discussions already underway regarding the terms of a potential deal.

However, the report adds that despite the interest from the Manchester clubs, Lille are eager to keep the teenager in Ligue 1 and are currently engaged in talks with Yoro regarding new contract terms.

The defender's current deal with Les Dogues is only set to expire in June 2025.

Yoro has gained many admirers with his performances and boasts an impressive 91.6% pass completion rate over the last 12 months.

Up to this point in the season, Yoro has featured in just six matches but has made a notable impact by scoring two goals in both Ligue 1 and the Europa Conference League.
