Manchester United confirm arrival of Bastian Schweinsteiger on three-year deal

Manchester United confirm the arrival of Bastian Schweinsteiger from Bayern Munich on a three-year deal.

Manchester United have confirmed the arrival of Bastian Schweinsteiger from Bayern Munich on a three-year deal.

The Bundesliga giants announced on Saturday that a deal between the two parties had been agreed.

Now, United have revealed that the German World Cup winner, who is thought to have cost the Red Devils around £14m, has put pen to paper on a three-year contract at Old Trafford.

Schweinsteiger joins United having won 20 major honours, including eight league titles, during a 14-year senior career with Bayern.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Bayern Munich, it has been an incredible journey and I didn't take the decision to leave lightly," Schweinsteiger told the club's official website.

"Manchester United is the only club that I would have left Munich for. I feel ready for this new and exciting challenge in what I regard as the most competitive league in the world and I am looking forward to working with Louis van Gaal again.

"I will never forget my time at Bayern Munich and I would like to thank everyone at the club and the fans for the great memories."

Schweinsteiger played under Van Gaal during the Dutchman's two-year stint with Bayern.
