Manchester United 'to complete Alex Sandro deal after FA Cup final'

Manchester United will reportedly finalise terms with Juventus over a deal to sign Alex Sandro once both clubs end their campaigns this weekend.

Manchester United will reportedly complete a deal to sign left-back Alex Sandro from Juventus after they have taken part in the FA Cup final against Chelsea.

United boss Jose Mourinho is planning a significant overhaul of his defensive options this summer, with the left-back slot understood to be one of his main priorities after Ashley Young established himself as the first choice in that position this season.

Sandro is near the top of the list of transfer targets when the window reopens, and The Times reports that senior figures at Juventus expect terms to be finalised after both clubs finish their campaigns this weekend.

The Brazilian international is thought to be pushing for the move, although Juventus are unwilling to sanction a deal for anything less than £50m and hope to hold out for a bid equal to the £52m sum Manchester City paid for Benjamin Mendy last summer.

United are willing to meet that valuation as they try to bridge the gap to local rivals Man City, who ended the Premier League season 19 points clear at the top of the table.

Mourinho's side do still have the chance to end the season with silverware when they take on Chelsea in the FA Cup final on Saturday, though.
