Manchester United will have to make some sales this summer if they wish to sign goalkeeper Andre Onana from Inter Milan, according to a report.

Manchester United will reportedly have to make some first-team sales this summer if they wish to sign Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana from Inter Milan.

The 27-year-old is currently being heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford, with Red Devils head coach Erik ten Hag allegedly identifying him as his leading target between the sticks.

David de Gea's contract with the club has now come to an end, although there is a chance that the Spaniard could re-sign on a free transfer in the near future.

Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta has confirmed that Man United are interested in signing Onana, but an offer for the goalkeeper has not yet been submitted.

The Italian giants are believed to be looking for a fee of £43m plus add-ons for the stopper, but according to talkSPORT, Ten Hag's side will only be able to sign him if they make some first-team sales.

The Red Devils will complete the signing of Mason Mount next week, with the English attacker set to arrive from Chelsea for an additional £55m plus a potential £5m in add-ons.

Man United also want to sign a new striker this summer, and there will allegedly not be room in the budget for a forward to arrive alongside Onana due to the cost of the goalkeeper.

Tom Heaton and Dean Henderson are currently the club's only two first-team goalkeepers, with De Gea a free agent due to his contract expiring on Saturday.

Henderson is not thought to be in the plans of Ten Hag, though, with the England international potentially completing a permanent move to Nottingham Forest in the near future.

Heaton, meanwhile, is not considered to be a number one, meaning that there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding the number one position at the club at this moment in time.

Fred and Scott McTominay are currently being linked with moves away from Old Trafford, while Anthony Martial could also be allowed to leave depending on the situation in the final third of the field.

Club captain Harry Maguire could also depart, while Eric Bailly and Alex Telles are not in the plans of Ten Hag for the coming season, so the pair will leave providing that suitable offers arrive.

Man United will return to pre-season training next week, with the players not involved for their countries during the recent internationals due back at the Carrington complex.

The Red Devils will play their first friendly of the summer against Leeds United on July 12, while they will also take on Lyon, Arsenal, Wrexham, Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Lens and Athletic Bilbao as part of their preparations for the 2023-24 campaign.
