Manchester United are reportedly keen for Marcus Rashford to remain at Old Trafford, rather than take on a fresh challenge elsewhere.

Manchester United would reportedly prefer to retain the services of Marcus Rashford rather than cash in on the forward.

The England international has endured a frustrating campaign at Old Trafford, scoring just five goals in all competitions and finding himself in an out of the starting lineup.

With just over a year remaining on his contract, and United possessing an option on a further 12 months, it has been claimed that the academy graduate is ready to take on a new challenge elsewhere.

However, according to The Sun, United would like to retain the signature of the 24-year-old in the long term with the next manager, whoever that may be, wanting to keep him in their squad.

A source is said to have told the outlet that the candidates for the position regard Rashford as "a vital asset" and he would feature in their plans.

Earlier this week, it was claimed that Erik ten Hag was expected to be named as the replacement for interim boss Ralf Rangnick at the end of the season.
