Villarreal centre-back Pau Torres rejected the chance to move to Tottenham Hotspur over the summer, according to a report.

Villarreal centre-back Pau Torres reportedly rejected the chance to move to Tottenham Hotspur during the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old was strongly linked with a switch to the Premier League after impressing for Villarreal during the 2020-21 campaign, with Manchester United thought to be interested in his services.

According to AS, Tottenham had an 'agreement in principle' with the Yellow Submarine for the transfer of the defender.

However, the report claims that the Spain international was not keen on a switch to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, as he would only leave Unai Emery's side for a Champions League club.

Torres allegedly has 'other options' in his head for when he leaves Villarreal, with the defender keen to 'wait for a better offer'.

The Spaniard, who has three years left to run on his contract with Emery's team, has made five appearances at club level during the 2021-22 campaign.
