Real Madrid president Florentino Perez reportedly tells Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho secretly that Gareth Bale is for sale.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has reportedly told Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho in private that Gareth Bale is for sale.

Publicly, the Real figurehead recently insisted that he does not "plan on selling" the Welshman because the 28-year-old is "one of the world's best".

Mourinho also poured cold water on a potential transfer after witnessing his side lose 2-1 to Madrid in the Super Cup on Tuesday night.

The Portuguese coach told reporters that his club's pursuit of Bale is now "game over", suggesting that the Spanish outfit want the former Tottenham Hotspur man to stay.

However, according to Diario Gol, Perez has secretly informed Mourinho that he is willing to sell Bale, but Los Blancos are unlikely to accept a bid less than £180m.

The Spanish publication suggests that Bale is unhappy that he will never be regarded as the star man of the team as long as Cristiano Ronaldo is in Madrid.
