Report: Manchester United, Chelsea want Raphael Varane

A report claims that Manchester United and Chelsea will battle for the services of Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane.

Manchester United and Chelsea will reportedly go head to head for the signature of Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane.

The 21-year-old joined Los Blancos from Lens in 2011 and had been tipped to make an immediate breakthrough at the Bernabeu.

Varane's path to the first team has been blocked by Pepe and Sergio Ramos, however, and it is understood that a move away could be on the cards.

According to The Express, United and Chelsea are both strongly interested, and the pair are expected to battle for the Frenchman's signature in the summer.

Varane revealed earlier this month that he came close to joining United before eventually penning a deal with Real Madrid in 2011.
