Report: Manchester United want Morgan Schneiderlin

Manchester United will reportedly try to pip the North London clubs to the signature of Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin during January's transfer window.

Manchester United have reportedly added Morgan Schneiderlin to their list of targets for January's transfer window.

The French international has been linked with moves to Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal in recent months, but Southampton have insisted that they will not be selling this month.

However, the Daily Mail reports that Louis van Gaal sees Schneiderlin as a replacement for oft-injured Michael Carrick, who turns 34 later this year, and is hoping to beat the North London clubs to his signature.

Schneiderlin has made 18 appearances in all competitions for Ronald Koeman's side this season, scoring three goals.
