Roma are reportedly offered the chance to sign Manchester United outcast Donny van de Beek, but the Dutchman is not viewed as a priority target for the Italian giants.

Roma have been offered the chance to sign Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek this summer, according to a report.

The former Ajax man has been nothing more than a bit-part player at Old Trafford since joining in a €39m (£33.6m) deal from the Amsterdam giants three years ago.

After failing to lay down a marker under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer or Ralf Rangnick, there was optimism that a reunion with Erik ten Hag could have breathed new life into Van de Beek's career.

However, the signings of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen kept Van de Beek on the fringes of the squad, and he was dealt another cruel blow in January when he suffered a season-ending knee injury.

Van de Beek has also lost his place in the Netherlands squad owing to his struggles at Old Trafford, with his last call up for the national team coming before Euro 2020.

The 26-year-old's contract at the Theatre of Dreams will run out in the summer of 2025, but it has been claimed that he could seek pastures new this summer after his underwhelming stint in Manchester.

According to Sky Italia, Roma have been offered the chance to sign Van de Beek from Man United, but Jose Mourinho's side do not view the Dutchman as a priority target.

The report states that Van de Beek is not in Man United's plans moving forward, but Roma could be open to a loan deal if no other clubs come calling for the midfielder's services in the coming weeks.

Since touching down in Manchester, Van de Beek has only registered two goals and two assists from 60 appearances in all tournaments, with the bulk of his appearances coming from the bench.

Van de Beek was restricted to 10 appearances in all tournaments last term - including two Premier League starts - the second of which saw him sustain his severe knee injury against Bournemouth on January 3.

The former Everton loanee subsequently missed both the FA Cup and EFL Cup final, but he collected a winners' medal in the latter tournament after playing in their third-round win over Aston Villa.

Van de Beek could be one of a few midfielders to bid farewell to Man United as the Red Devils try to create room for Chelsea's Mason Mount, who is expected to be the subject of an imminent third bid from Ten Hag's side.

Fulham are rumoured to be interested in a deal for Fred, who is valued at £20m by Man United, but the Cottagers are not willing to pay the Red Devils' asking price.

Meanwhile, Scott McTominay is thought to be of interest to West Ham United, giving rise to the idea of a player-plus-cash deal which would see Declan Rice head in the opposite direction.

Two young lynchpins in Zidane Iqbal and Hannibal Mejbri could also be on the way out, with the former reportedly closing in on a permanent switch to FC Utrecht, while Borussia Dortmund have expressed an interest in signing Hannibal.
