CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says that defender Jerome Boateng - a reported target for Manchester United - could potentially leave Bayern Munich this summer.

Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has suggested that Jerome Boateng could be allowed to leave the German club this summer.

Boateng has enjoyed a successful seven-year spell at the Allianz Arena, but it has previously been reported that Bayern could be open to offers for the Germany international.

Manchester United have been linked with an approach for a player who has already represented Manchester City, but Rummenigge has indicated that the 29-year-old will not be allowed to leave on the cheap.

Rummenigge told Bild: "If a club comes to us and he says that he wants to join that club, then we will negotiate, but the offer has to be important."

Boateng - who still has two years left on his contract - has hinted in the past that he may be ready for a new challenge.
