Manchester United keeper Sergio Romero reportedly demands showdown talks with Ed Woodward after allegedly finding out about his omission from their squad on social media.

Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero has reportedly demanded showdown talks with the club after being left out of their Premier League squad.

The Argentine has served as back-up to David de Gea since his arrival at Old Trafford five years ago, but fell further down the pecking order when Dean Henderson returned from his loan spell during the summer.

Romero has subsequently seen his hopes of playing any competitive football before January ended after he was omitted from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Premier League list, alongside Phil Jones.

However, the Daily Star reports that Romero only found out about the latest snub via social media and has now demanded talks with Ed Woodward over his treatment.

The 33-year-old was linked with moves to Everton and Leeds United during the summer, but Man United refused to budge on their £10m asking price and a switch away ultimately did not materialise.

Romero, who has also been left out of United's Champions League squad, is hopeful that the club will agree to terminate his £100,000-a-week contract, opening the door for him to join another team on a free transfer.

The 96-time Argentina international has featured just 61 times over his five-year spell with the Red Devils.
