Manchester United leading race for goalkeeper Sergio Romero?

Manchester United are reportedly at the front of a queue to sign free agent goalkeeper Sergio Romero, who is without a club after leaving Sampdoria.

Manchester United are reportedly leading the race to sign Argentine goalkeeper Sergio Romero.

Louis van Gaal is thought to be in the hunt for a new stopper given that Victor Valdes appears likely to depart the club, while number one choice David de Gea's future remains unclear with speculation mounting regarding a potential move to Real Madrid.

According to Sky Sport Italia, United are holding talks with the 28-year-old Romero while Italian giants Roma are also thought to be keen on the player's services.

Van Gaal has already worked alongside Romero when the two spent time at AZ Alkmaar.
