Manchester United are reportedly ready to trigger the 12-month option in the contract of Marcus Rashford.

Manchester United have reportedly decided to trigger the 12-month option in Marcus Rashford's contract.

The forward has progressed from the academy setup to become one of United's key men, and the England international has impressed since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's appointment as caretaker manager.

However, the 21-year-old has just over a year remaining on his existing contract, and United are yet to make a breakthrough in negotiations over a fresh deal.

According to The Sun, that has resulted in United being ready to activate a one-year clause which will ensure that Rashford remains at the club until at least 2021.

The report adds that the Premier League giants remain confident of agreeing a long-term contract with Rashford, who has already made 161 first-team outings in all competitions.
