Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley has reportedly emerged as a target for Aston Villa.
After the summer arrivals of Ander Herrera and Angel di Maria, Cleverley is likely to find himself surplus to requirements at United and it appears that the 25-year-old could be given a way out of Old Trafford.
According to The Telegraph, Villa manager Paul Lambert has been given the funds to make an £8m bid for the England international as he looks to strengthen his squad before the end of the transfer window on Monday.
The offer represents a significant move by Villa owner Randy Lerner, who has continued to back Lambert in the transfer market despite opting to put the West Midlands club up for sale.
