Athletic Bilbao's Nico Williams, who continues to be linked with the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid, says that a decision on his future is yet to be made.

Athletic Bilbao forward Nico Williams has welcomed the alleged vast transfer interest in him but has insisted that a final decision on his future has not yet been made.

The 21-year-old only has a contract at San Mames until next June, and there is currently widespread speculation surrounding his future.

Barcelona and Real Madrid continue to be linked with him, while there is also believed to be interest from the Premier League in the shape of Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.

A recent report claimed that Williams would move to Barcelona next year, but it has since been claimed that he has come to an agreement with Athletic over a new deal.

The Spain international has insisted that a final decision has not been made, with the forward needing to take into consideration a number of factors.

"The fact that big teams like Barca, Madrid or clubs in England are looking at me means that I'm doing my job well," Williams told SPORT when asked about his future.

"I'm clear about the decision I want to make, but in the end it's something that my representatives, who have been with me since I was 11 years old, are in charge of.

"And there are my parents, my brother. We'll see, but I'm very calm and I want to stay that way. It will be everyone's decision, it's not just me.

"There is also my family, my friends, my representatives. It's not just a question of me, because in the end the family is very important to me and plays a decisive role in this decision."

Williams, as it stands, would be able to hold discussions with foreign clubs over pre-contract at the start of 2024.

The versatile forward came through the youth system at Athletic, making his debut in 2021, and he has represented the club on 95 occasions, scoring 13 goals and registering 12 assists in the process.

This season, Williams has one goal and five assists in 10 La Liga appearances, including one goal and three assists in his last three outings during a strong run of form.

Inaki Williams, who is his older brother, has made 395 appearances for the Lions, meanwhile, scoring 91 goals and registering 55 assists, and the 29-year-old has also been linked with a move to the Premier League over the last few years.
