Marseille playmaker Dimitri Payet hits back at Nantes boss Claudio Ranieri

Marseille playmaker Dimitri Payet claims that his side's last-gasp equaliser against Nantes was "justice", despite the goal coming in controversial circumstances.

Marseille playmaker Dimitri Payet has dismissed claims by Nantes boss Claudio Ranieri that he had failed to act like "a gentleman" in the Ligue 1 fixture between the two clubs.

Sunday's encounter ended in a 1-1 draw after Marseille netted a last-minute equaliser, but only after Payet had failed to return the ball to Nantes when two of their players had required treatment.

However, Payet has suggested that both Diego Carlos and Ciprian Tatarusanu had been feigning injury and feels that Florian Thauvin's goal was "justice".

The 30-year-old is quoted by The Mirror as saying: "I'm a player who believes fair play but you cannot push it too far.

"When I see a goalkeeper and a defender on the floor without any contact, there comes a time that we have to stop. We played on and there you go. You can say it is justice."

Marseille sit in third place in the league standings.
