Report: Aston Villa outcast Ross McCormack to extend Melbourne City loan

Aston Villa outcast Ross McCormack is believed to be on the verge of extending his loan spell with A-League side Melbourne City.

Aston Villa forward Ross McCormack is reportedly on the verge of extending his loan spell with Melbourne City.

The 31-year-old scored both goals as Melbourne beat Wellington Phoenix on Saturday to climb to third in the A-League table.

McCormack has now scored 10 times in 13 games and, according to the Daily Mail, has asked Villa if he can stay with Melbourne and then weigh up his options in the summer.

The Scotland international was signed on an injury-replacement deal until January 26 while marquee signing Bruno Fornaroli recovered from an ankle injury, but the Uruguayan has reportedly suffered a setback in his recovery.

Villa, meanwhile, do not appear to be feeling McCormack's absence as they sit fifth in the Championship table.
