Neil Harris hails "outstanding" Shaun Williams display against Peterborough

Neil Harris says that Shaun Williams delivered "an outstanding performance" in Millwall's Johnstone's Paint Trophy victory over Peterborough United.

Millwall manager Neil Harris has lauded the "outstanding performance" of Shaun Williams in the Lions' 1-0 win over Peterborough United.

The South London outfit reached round two of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy after Williams scored a stoppage-time winner at The New Den.

Speaking afterwards, Harris claimed that Williams responded well to being dropped, and the Millwall boss suggested that victory could help to resurrect the club's League One campaign.

He is quoted by the club's official Twitter account as saying: "I thought it was a real good Cup tie. Some of our attacking play was very good and we created numerous chances.

"It was important that we got that first home win. It gives us a platform to build from at The Den.

"I left Shaun out at the weekend and he has responded with an outstanding performance."

The Lions lost 2-0 at home to Chesterfield on Saturday.
