Ian Holloway praises his players despite Ipswich Town defeat

Ian Holloway says his side showed "passion, work rate and commitment" despite falling to Ipswich Town.

Millwall manager Ian Holloway has said that he is pleased with his side's performance against Ipswich Town despite falling to a 3-1 defeat at The Den.

A brace from Noel Hunt and a clinical finish by Jonathan Parr handed Ipswich a convincing win, but Holloway believes his players responded well after they lost at Bradford City in the FA Cup on Wednesday.

He told reporters: "I made a lot of changes to the team because it was completely necessary. I wasn't at all happy with the display on Wednesday but I will have what we saw today all day long. I liked the effort.

"The fans were absolutely magnificent and got behind us despite what was happening with going 2-0 down. The bare minimum here is that the passion, work rate and commitment is there and I think the fans saw that today. They responded to it and gave us some brilliant support.

"Ultimately we couldn't win the game for them but we will only get better from now on."

Millwall next travel to Nottingham Forest in two weeks.
