Steven Gerrard in contact with MK Dons over manager's job?

Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard reportedly holds talks with MK Dons regarding the manager's vacancy.

Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has reportedly spoken to MK Dons about the manager's vacancy at the League One outfit.

The ex-England international is considering various options after announcing his departure from MLS outfit Los Angeles Galaxy on Tuesday.

Widespread reports have claimed that Gerrard could prolong his playing career at Scottish giants Celtic, but manager Brendan Rodgers has refused to be drawn on the speculation.

Now it has emerged that a management role could be offered to the 36-year-old, who made 710 appearances during a 17-year spell at Liverpool.

According to BBC Sport, Gerrard has had talks with MK Dons regarding the manager's role, which was vacated by Karl Robinson in October.

It is not yet known whether the 2005 Champions League winner would retire from his playing career if he is appointed as the Dons' new boss.

Gerrard, who won eight major trophies during his time at boyhood club Liverpool, is also rumoured to have held talks with the Merseyside outfit regarding a coaching role.
