Motherwell boss Stuart McCall has revealed that he is hopeful of signing James McFadden on a long-term contract this week.
The former Scotland international spent last season with the club, but is currently a free agent after his short-term deal expired.
A number of clubs have since been linked with his services, but McCall is hopeful of acquiring the former Sunderland winger before their pre-season clash with Newcastle United on Tuesday.
"He has not missed a session since he joined us and has worked hard," McCall told MFC TV.
"He'll be in on Monday morning hopefully to get things tied up and look to play a part in the game on Tuesday against Newcastle."
McFadden made 48 appearances for his country, scoring 15 times in the process.
