Gonzalo Higuain: 'I want to make Napoli history'

Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain is desperate to reward his new fans with silverware following a strong start to life at the San Paolo Stadium.

Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain has declared that he is desperate to end the Azzurri's quest for silverware, as a reward for their faith following a surprise summer switch from Real Madrid.

Higuain arrived at the San Paolo Stadium in August as a direct replacement for Edinson Cavani, quickly establishing a reputation as a ruthless finisher in a swift transition from La Liga to Serie A.

Following seven goals in his first 11 league games for Napoli the Argentine international has insisted that he is highly motivated to make things happen for his new side, placing relative significance on their upcoming Serie A clash with Parma.

He told reporters: "I'm here to make history for this club. I want to win for the people of Naples, to pay them back for the happiness they have given me since I arrived.

"All games are important for us. We know, for example, that we can't make any mistakes against Parma.

"It is true that the championship is long, but we need to win so that we go to Borussia Dortmund with hope."

Rafael Benitez's side face a momentous first week back from international duty, with the fight for points in Serie A followed by a crunch Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund.
