Emanuele Calaio apologises for denying Napoli victory

Genoa loanee Emanuele Calaio says sorry to his parent club Napoli for scoring against them in a 1-1 draw on Monday evening.

Genoa loanee Emanuele Calaio has apologised to his parent club Napoli for scoring against them in a 1-1 draw on Monday evening.

The 32-year-old, who found the back of the net with a late free kick to deny the Partenopei a victory, admits that he would rather not have scored against the club he is on loan from.

"The only place where I did not want to score a goal like this was here," he told Sky Sport Italia.

"I am sorry because here I have spent an important time. But when I go on to the field Itry to give my best for this shirt and to take away from it satisfaction.

"Is this my best goal? Maybe, the free kick was beautiful. I am sorry to have scored here at the San Paolo but this is my job."

Genoa remained in 11th place in the Serie A table following the result.
