Alan Pardew, Martin O'Neill clear the air ahead of North-East derby

Alan Pardew and Martin O'Neill reportedly agree to bury the hatchet as Newcastle United prepare to travel to Sunderland for the Tyne-Wear derby this weekend.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has reportedly cleared the air with Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill ahead of this weekend's North-East derby.

Pardew and O'Neill were involved in a heated touchline altercation when the two sides last met in March, a controversial match which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Lee Cattermole and Stephane Sessegnon were dismissed along with nine yellow cards in a bad-tempered affair.

According to The Mirror, both men agreed to bury their feud at a League Managers Association meeting, with Pardew admitting that he said "silly things".

O'Neill is thought to have agreed with Pardew that there can be no repeat of the ugly scenes in March which saw both sides fined by the Football Association and warned about their future conduct.

Sunderland entertain Newcastle on Sunday looking for their second Premier League win of the season.
