Alan Pardew understands fans' frustration after sixth Newcastle defeat in a row

Alan Pardew admits that he can "respect" the fans' frustrations following Newcastle United's sixth defeat in a row.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has insisted that he understands why the supporters are frustrated with the club's recent run of poor results.

The Magpies suffered their sixth defeat in a row when they succumbed to a 3-0 loss at the hands of Arsenal on Monday evening.

In the last few weeks, a number of fans have expressed their discontent with Pardew's position as manager, but the ex-West Ham United coach has vowed to turn things around.

"They're frustrated," Pardew told reporters. "They've seen us lose again and they're not happy and I respect that.

"All I can do as a manager is make sure I do this job to the best of my ability. We've been top 10 all year and this recent run is not something I'm hiding from."

Newcastle are currently ninth in the Premier League table on 46 points with two games left to play.
