Rafael Benitez 'ready to leave Newcastle United'

Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez is reportedly willing to leave the club at the end of his contract next summer if he is not given more backing in the transfer market.

Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez is reportedly ready to leave the club if he does not get more backing in the transfer market.

Benitez has repeatedly suggested that he needs more money to spend from owner Mike Ashley, who is yet to break the club's record transfer fee during his 11 years at the helm.

The Spaniard's current contract at St James' Park expires at the end of the season, and The Mirror reports that he is willing to walk away from the club if he is not given more money to spend.

Benitez has previously suggested that he will not consider any new deal until January, instead preferring to focus on improving Newcastle's poor start to the season.

The Magpies have picked up just one point from their opening five games of the campaign, and including the end of last season they have now lost nine of their last 11 Premier League outings.

Newcastle take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park this afternoon.
