Rafael Benitez sees positives in Newcastle United defeat

Rafael Benitez says that there "were a lot of positives" for Newcastle United to take from their narrow loss at league leaders Leicester City.

Recently-appointed Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez has insisted that there "were a lot of positives" to take from tonight's 1-0 defeat at the hands of Leicester City.

The result has left Benitez's men 19th in the Premier League with just nine matches left to play.

However, despite the negativity, the new boss has been filled with confidence with what he saw from his team this evening.

"I thought that we could get a result and I was convinced we could do it," he told Sky Sports News.

"I will take the positives. We did well, you could see the commitment and the passion.

"There were a lot of positives and the team showed that they are convinced they can win. Every game will be important for us."

Next up for the Magpies is a local derby against Sunderland at St James' Park.
