Newcastle United boss Steve McClaren 'will be given more time'

Under-fire Newcastle United boss Steve McClaren reportedly still has the backing of the club's board.

Under-fire Newcastle United manager Steve McClaren will reportedly be given more time and financial backing by the club's hierarchy.

The former Derby County boss is under pressure after winning just two Premier League games all season, but the board remains behind him, according to The Chronicle.

Although coaches including David Moyes, Brendan Rodgers and Clarence Seedorf have been linked with the Newcastle hotseat of late, McClaren will reportedly be given money to spend in the January transfer window.

Pressure mounted on the ex-England boss last weekend when a 3-0 home defeat to Leicester City left his side in 17th place in the league table.

The Magpies travel to Crystal Palace this weekend.
