Forward Aleksandar Mitrovic suggests that he is open to remaining at Fulham after a successful loan period away from Newcastle United.

Aleksandar Mitrovic has acknowledged that he has regained his confidence at Fulham and suggested that he is open to remaining at Craven Cottage.

In January, Newcastle United allowed Mitrovic to make the loan switch to Fulham for the rest of the season, and the forward has gone on to score 12 goals in 19 appearances in the Championship.

Mitrovic faces an uncertain future at St James' Park, but the Serbian international has indicated that he will consider a permanent move to the West London outfit.

The 23-year-old told Sky Sports News: "I've loved my time here and I don't know what's going to happen after. But why not stay? Maybe.

"I want to focus on the game on Saturday, then I have time to rest and focus on the World Cup. I needed the gametime so that's why I came here. I needed to be on the pitch, to score goals and to have the feeling that I have now.

"I needed to get confidence - especially because of the World Cup, but also because of myself. I feel good and honestly I have never been in better shape in the whole of my career."

Mitrovic is expected to start when Fulham face Aston Villa in the Championship playoff final on Saturday evening.
