Newcastle United are expected to face competition from French giants Paris Saint-Germain if they want to sign Ajax defender Gregory van der Wiel.
The Dutch full-back has been linked with numerous clubs in the past but looks likely to leave the Amsterdam Arena this summer after his representative admitted that he was trying to negotiate the player's exit from his current employers.
Magpies boss Alan Pardew is thought to be monitoring Van der Wiel's situation closely and could be encouraged to make a bid after the 24-year-old's agent confirmed that he was in talks with several clubs.
"I am in talks with many clubs but there is nothing concrete," Raiola told Dutch newspaper AD.
However, Pardew will have to battle PSG for Van der Wiel as he looks to strengthen his side in the last week of the transfer window.
The Ligue 1 outfit have already spent £119m this summer.
