Newcastle United have reportedly lodged an official bid for FC Twente defender Douglas.
The Magpies are believed to have been tracking the 24-year-old Brazilian since January.
According to Sky Sports News, the North East club sent managing director Derek Llambias to Holland in an attempt to negotiate a deal for Douglas earlier this month and an offer in excess of £3m has now been made.
Aston Villa had also previously been credited with an interest in Douglas.
