Newcastle United have reportedly decided to up their efforts to sign Atlanta United midfielder Miguel Almiron.
The 25-year-old has enjoyed an outstanding campaign in the MLS, with 13 goals and 11 assists coming from 35 outings.
That form has led to the Paraguay international being strongly linked with a switch to the Premier League, and the likes of Arsenal and West Ham United have both been credited with an interest in the playmaker.
However, according to the Daily Mail, it is Newcastle who are prepared to make an early move for Almiron in a bid to secure his signature in the January transfer window.
The Magpies may have to pay in the region of £25m to sign Almiron - something which is far from a certainty - but the North-East outfit have allegedly identified him as the man to boost their efforts in the final third.
Newcastle have scored just 11 goals from 13 matches in the Premier League this season, with five of those strikes coming in the last three games.
