A report claims that Hoffenheim striker Joelinton is a £52m target for Newcastle United, who only recently broke their transfer record by bringing in Miguel Almiron.

Newcastle United are reportedly prepared to more than double their transfer record by bringing in Hoffenheim striker Joelinton in a £52m deal.

The Magpies paid around £20m to sign playmaker Miguel Almiron from Atlanta United last month, making him their most-expensive recruit since Michael Owen joined in 2005.

German outlet Sport1 indicates that the spending will not stop there, as Newcastle are hoping to push through a move for Joelinton.

United may even have a deal in place by early next week, it is claimed, with talks already underway with Bundesliga side Hoffenheim for a player with 10 goals in 28 appearances this term.

Joelinton has previously spent time on loan with Rapid Vienna, where he scored 21 goals across two seasons, and he has been capped by Brazil at age-grade level.
