Jerome Valcke, Chung Mong-joon bans reduced by FIFA

Two senior FIFA officials Jerome Valcke and Chung Mong-joon both have their bans reduced by the governing body's appeals committee.

FIFA's appeals committee has reduced the bans of Jerome Valcke and former vice-president Chung Mong-joon.

Valcke was Sepp Blatter's right-hand man for much of his time at the governing body, but was handed a 12-year ban in February due to financial impropriety and his involvement in a TV rights scam.

However, that suspension has now been reduced to 10 years, with the appeals committee ruling that "mitigating factors had not been fully assessed" when it came to his ban for underselling Caribbean TV rights.

Chung, meanwhile, was banned for six years last October having breached FIFA bidding rules during the campaign for the 2022 World Cup.

The South Korean, who pledged a $777m (£600m) fund for global football development if his country was awarded the tournament, has seen his suspension reduced by one year.
