Arsene Wenger welcomes Pep Guardiola arrival

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger welcomes the competition that new Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola will bring to the Premier League.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has welcomed the added competition that the likes of new Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola will bring to the race for the Premier League title.

In a summer of managerial changes at some of the league's top clubs, Jose Mourinho has also been installed at Manchester City, while Antonio Conte has joined Chelsea and Ronald Koeman has moved to Everton.

With Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, combined with Mauricio Pochettino and Claudio Ranieri's success last term, Wenger is predicting a "great" season ahead.

"It's great because it's a little bit like a world championship of managers because all the best managers come to England to make our lives even more difficult," he told reporters during the Gunners' pre-season tour of the US.

"That's what you want, for the Premier League to be interesting. The more we have quality managers, the more it will be interesting and create interest from the outside world."

Arsenal have not lifted the Premier League title since 2004 but finished as runners-up for the first time in 11 years last season.
