Wolverhampton Wanderers: 'Norwich City fans accused of racism identified'

Wolverhampton Wanderers reveal that the Norwich City fans accused of racist behaviour during yesterday's game have been identified.

The Norwich City supporters who have been accused of racist abuse during yesterday's Championship match at Molineux have been identified, Wolverhampton Wanderers have stated.

It emerged this morning that Norwich were investigating two or three of their own fans after it was reported to stewards that there had been racist abuse in the away end yesterday.

Both Norwich and Wolves this afternoon released statements, and the latter's said that those involved had been determined.

"Club officials will now be co-operating and working closely with their counterparts at Norwich, and the relevant authorities have been informed," read the statement.

"As a club, we deplore racist behaviour and indeed any form of discrimination, and are grateful to those Norwich supporters who brought it to the stewards' attention.

"It is thanks to those supporters, in highlighting the behaviour of their fellow fans, and the stewards, that the perpetrators have been identified."

Norwich said that the supporters would be banned for life if they were found guilty.

"The club will ban any supporters we are satisfied are guilty of racist behaviour from Carrow Road for life," said the Canaries.

"The club has a zero-tolerance policy on racism and other forms of discrimination and will always ban anyone found guilty of such behaviour from our ground."

Wolves came out on top 1-0 in the final match of the Football League's opening weekend.
